About the Artist…
Hello, and welcome to my website. I (Andy Wilson) am a Nashville-based photographer who works primarily in the digital medium. Ever since getting my first Olympus C370 3MP point-n-shoot, I’ve been hooked. Actually, I’ve been hooked ever since my father loaned me the Yashica twin-lens reflex camera which was standard issue from his newsroom, but I’ve become re-dedicated to the craft now that the digital age has arrived.
I now use Nikon equipment (primarily a D2X body) and I have a portfolio which is starting to gobble up about every byte of disc space I own.
Photography is ultimately about recording light, and as such, I believe in using every kind of light to capture and to evoke my photographic vision. Normally, I will use available light sources to render my natural subjects, but at times, Mother Nature is unkind. So, too, is the fact that the human eye works in a dynamic 20-stop range, while the camera sees perhaps three. As such, I use digital post-processing to enhance what was recorded in RAW format on the digital media that I have loaded on that day.
(In short, my workflow :: Nikon RAW –> Apple G5 –> Adobe CR –> Nik filtering & sharpening –> HQ output.)
I enjoy travel, and seldom am I ever without a camera.
I plan to use this space as a travelogue, a diary, and to record some of my thoughts on the craft of image-making. I hope to make it interactive, as I have found that one area in which photography often suffers is a willingness to share and to cross-pollinate information.
However, please don’t lift my work without express permission.
