It Ends at Lake Ngakoro
Toitu he kianga; whatungarongaro he tangata.*
A Maori phrase, translated as: "People are transient things, but the land endures."
This landscape is at the end of the trail at the Wai O Tapu thermal reserve in rural Rotorua, New Zealand. The color of Lake Ngakoro (nah-KOH-roe) is a stew of volcanic steam and leachates of manganese, iron, sulfur, antimony, and silica.
